For about a month now I have been keeping closer tabs on the
Pageviews charted on my Blogspot site. I decided that when The Defiant Mind Journal reached 5,000 Pageviews, a tally I didn’t
expect, the milestone would deserve a post of its own. A celebration. (NB I
really don’t know why Blogger chooses to make one word out of “page views” nor do
I know why it capitalizes it.)
As of this morning the blogspot stats read as follows:
Pageviews today 33
Pageviews yesterday
8
Pageviews last month 209
Pageviews all time history 5,086
Beneath these stats there is a Mercator map of the world
which illustrates in various shades of green where the site traffic is coming
from. The day after the Taiwan
edition of Reader’s Digest International
appeared all of China was
lit up from the China Sea to the Middle East . Imagine,
two billion potential readers. I was on a roll.
The density of the green colour and its distribution varies
daily according to the changing traffic patterns. (To date all of Central
America and Africa have remained white spaces
on the map.) Bloggers, like me, who want more detail can click on the more in the top corner of the map and
the following legend appears:
Pageviews by country

One of the treats which a visit to our mailbox can provide
these days is a hard copy of the various Reader’s
Digest publications. (They do not come out at the same time.) To date Ron
has received the French, Spanish, Argentine and Taiwanese versions. From what
we have been told there are twelve more editions still to come. The Taiwanese
edition is unique; it is written in Chinese characters, and starts, to Western
eyes, from back to front. What will the Urdu edition look like? I wonder.
So, the 15 page “digested” excerpt from Ron’s 313 page book
entitled “I survived a stroke”
continues to circle the globe accompanied by this photo:
