Reader’s Digest
International is publishing a twelve page excerpt from Ron’s book in this
month’s June 2018 issue. The international edition reaches six million readers
in fourteen countries. According to Thomas Dobrowski, Reader’s Digest’s Global Rights Manager, the publication
distributes in English in the UK ,
Australia , India and Ca nada ;
and has translated editions in Spanish, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Slovenian,
Chinese, Finnish, Swedish, and Norwegian. (Ron went online and even found an
issue published in Urdu.)
This spring Ron has continued to be busy locally, giving
readings and talks to Stroke Recovery Associations in Nanaimo
and Courtenay and to the Oceanside University Women’s Club in Qualicum Beach .
He also gave a reading and workshop for the Fat Oyster Society in Fanny Bay ,
a lovely community and hall just north of Qualicum. PLUS he is going to attend
a meeting of a neighbourhood book club in September.
So here I must apologize to anyone who might have been
concerned that the lack of Defiant Mind
blogs might indicate something more serious than mere sloth on my part. My
excuse: Once I typed “The End” in my last post in December 2017, I found I “hit
a wall in my own mind,” not defiance exactly, but something definitely akin to
writer’s block. Fortunately Reader’s
Digest International came along
and shook me out of my lethargy.
In the future, don’t worry. Just remember “No news is good
news.”
